Small Bathroom Decor and Design Ideas

Small bathrooms have the potential to clutter too many different styles within a limited footprint. However with the right design tricks, you can easily strike a balance between form and function, creating an attractive small bathroom with big impact. Check out these small bathroom decor and design ideas to add polish and function in a tight space.

Idea 1:  Neutral Colors

Choose a soothing color scheme of light, bright hues to make a small bathroom feel larger and more relaxing.  Bathroom decorations with tones of white and natural brown create a calming feel in this small bath. Keep the design interesting by using tiles with patterns for the floor and a section of the wall.

Idea 2: Use a Shower Curtain

A shower curtain that moves back and forth saves space over a glass door that moves in and out. Shower-tub combos actually can fit into small spaces so you can still enjoy a theraputic soaking bath even in a small bathroom.

Idea 3: Float the Vanity

Besides just visually helping the bathroom appear bigger, mounting a vanity above the floor frees up a little space for small items. You can place a wicker basket like the one shown here to put your dirty laundry or storage for miscellaneous items so as to free up your counter top space for the clean and tidy look.

Idea 4: Decorate with Plants

Include houseplants into your small bathroom design to add life. Place small potted plants on the vanity countertop and open shelves, or set a large pot on the floor to brighten up an empty corner. Be sure to choose varieties that will do well in a bath’s humid and dim environment, such as pothos or a snake plant.

Idea 5: Mirror, Mirror

Mirrors are fundamental fixtures in a bathroom, whether small or large. In a modest floorplan, you can harness the reflective ability of mirrors to make your small bathroom appear larger. For the spot above the sink, choose a large mirror with inbuilt led light to create an even brighter and more spacious effect.

Idea 6: Wall Mounted Racks & Shelves

No matter the size of your bathroom, it’s important to have a designated spot to house your towels, toiletries, and spare cleaning products. These wall mounted towel, magaizne racks and floating shelves for toiletries are genius ideas to fully utilize the wall space  and instantly adding some order and style to your small space.
